Magnet fishing - Fishing Magnets & More

Magnet Fishing, born a few years ago, has had a worldwide boom in recent times thanks also to the putting on the market of Neodymium Magnets. There are countless enthusiasts who drag rivers, streams, lakes, seas, wells, etc.

Neomidium magnets offer much stronger attractiveness than classic magnets, they are much more resistant to both shocks and weather.
But how is a fishing magnet made? It is a disc of attractive material, incorporated in a steel structure that in turn has a thread for the ring hook to which the towing or recovery rope must be attached, at the other end of the same you can attach a carabiner to tie it to the pants or belt, however it is always advisable to tie it to something before throwing.
There are various dimesions both in diameter and thickness, some are equipped, in addition to the hook, with a conical steel structure or equipped with a higher lead cone, which facilitates the launch and recovery, also facilitating the dredging of the seabed and a better disengagement from obstacles of various kinds.

What is Neodymium?

It is a chemical element (ND) belonging to the Rare Earths, of bright silvery color. It is used in alloy with Boron and Iron to create magnets. Since this alloy is fragile to shocks, it is usually, as mentioned above, protected by a steel structure. There are neodymium magnets of several degrees: the degree is a code that always begins with the letter N (short for Neodymium) and is followed by two digits (e.g. N27, N30, N33, N35, N38, N40, N42, N45, N48, N50). Source: Wikipedia

Why practice magnet fishing
It is an outdoor activity, you are in contact with nature, you do physical activity, it is good for the environment, removing ferrous debris. That adrenaline rush, that desire for discovery, that moment when you realize that something you have taken, but above all you practice waiting for that moment when you pull the magnet and find out what you have "caught". This last step is the most important, the one that awakens in you the taste of adventure, the one that as a child you had and that perhaps had been subsopiled in you for years.
